First, authentic Indian cuisine is my absolute most favorite food! Wherever I go in the world I seek it out. Having partially grown up in Wales and visiting it again now, I truly miss the Indian restaurants that were here 20-30+ years ago. Those were the restaurants where you had fresh chicken and lamb, sauces where you could taste and see whole spices like bay leaf, cinnamon, cumin, green chilis, cloves and cardamoms.
This restaurant has none of that authenticity of true Indian cuisine. We ordered chicken tikka masala(very thick fruity red sauce) and chicken bhunna. We wanted a lamb bhunna but they said we couldn’t as the only lamb dish was lamb tikka. The chicken bhunna was frozen chicken, no fresh Indian spices, and oily and sweet. The chicken tikka masala was super thick, very red, no detectable spices, and frozen chicken. The Naan bread was more like an over cooked cracker and hard. The pilau rice was very colorful but lacked any aromatic qualities and no spice at all. the lamb samosas were frozen packets of fried meat. I was underwhelmed and very disappointed. You have to buy the poppadoms and chutneys. Lastly, they do not serve any alcoholic beverages but you can BYOB.

I had a bit of a wait for my train at Newport station so went to find something to eat. Looking on Google maps, Taste of Asia was only a five minute walk away and slightly out of the town centre but was well worth a visit!
I told them I had a train to catch and they got the food out to me in good time which was very good of them.
I went for onion bhaji which were lovely, crisp, not at all oily and with a nice drawing and a fresh side salad
.
Lamb Dansak is my go to but they only served chicken or beef so went for the latter which was very good. It was to the spicier end of the Dansak scale but manageable and full of flavour.
They don’t have a license so you would need to take your own beer etc. they die red my to a local convenience store and happily opened the bottle and provided a glass.
The kitchen is open to the restaurant which is always good to see the chef at work, the staff were friendly and the look of the restaurant is very nice, contemporary but with some classic touches with the wood paneling.
It was quite early when I went so was quite empty but there was a regular flow of take aways being collected which is always a good sign I think.
Overall, The Taste of Asia was a very happy find and would happily go again next time I’m in the area!

Taste of Asia food is excellent along with the service. Staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The chef also came out to see us and inquired about our food and was genuinely friendly. You can bring your own alcohol if you wish which keeps the costs down. Taste of Asia inside is spotless, along with its toilets. Off licence 30 meters away. Thanks Guys

Me and my boyfriend randomly chose to eat at this Indian restaurant a few months ago and it really surprised us... We've gotten a takeaway every week ever since. It's always 10/10 and we've tried a few different things. The chicken dhansak and tarka dal are firm favourites but not a single dish has ever disappointed! The staff are really lovely and friendly and the overall cost is very good value for money! :) :)

Very happy with the food and service here. Remember it's BYOB if you want any alcoholic to drink, an off license just around the corner.
I had popadoms to start with and then Taka taka tin with Chicken tikka and a medium sauce, garlic naan and pilau rice on the side. All was very good but the naan could been a but thinner and more charred for my taste.

Excellent food and service. The keema nan bread, keema rice & chicken tikka massala was superb. Lovely restaurant with lighting and service dishes are very modern.

I’m gunna jump straight in with the poppadom’s and chutney tray which were very nice. I’ve never had the orange coconut balls before and I will be on the lookout 👀 for them in the future 😂.
The onion bhaji’s were cooked very nice and tasted very delicious. The photo doesn’t do them justice 👍.
The mains were very tasty. The tikka was seasoned very well and cooked very well with the onions and peppers in both dishes. The dish’s had lots of flavour and the tikka karhai had a lovely kick to it. The both mains came on a sizzler plate and I do love listening to the sizzle as I plate up 😂. I loved the masala sauce and accompanied the main dishes very well.
The Keemanaan bread was very nice. The bread wasn’t burnt and it had a decent amount of keema in it. I nearly ordered an extra one for on the way home lol.
They also do local delivery and they are a 5 STAR 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟rating restaurant 👌.
The food is all halal too.
Overall the food was extremely delicious and the staff were very helpful and polite. The restaurant has a very cosy feeling about it and I could easily sink a bottle of wine 🍷 with a curry there any day of the week 🙈. I’ll definitely be back for more in the future 👍.

I ate here with my Girlfriend last night, I had Garlic mushrooms starter, chickpea mushroom masala, pilau rice and a garlic naan.
The garlic mushrooms starter was good but had a strange aftertaste with too much oil. Chana mushroom masala was great, sweet and fragrant. The rice was light and fluffy too. Garlic Naan was tasty but didn't have as much garlic flavour as I would like. I also noticed that all the plates that the food was served in were cold.
The overall atmosphere was pleasant but because we were the only people in the restaurant, we felt like the staff were constantly watching and staring at us which made us feel uncomfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating, my order was slightly off menu but they were understanding and happy to provide.
There is no menu outside so I had to search for it online and when we went inside the prices were different. Our overall bill was £45 for 2 starters 2 curries, 2 pilau rice, and 1 naan without drinks which I could get in Manchester city centre for £10 less.
Overall, food was decent, priced a little too high and the atmosphere was just ok.
Edit: my partner and I are COVID free, we test regularly and we wear masks because I am on strong immunosuppressive medication. I am sorry that you cannot take ownership of your poor food, service, atmosphere, staff, hygiene and pricing. I believe your staff could be feeling unwell due to one of your chefs being sick, as my girlfriend saw him sneezing in the kitchen while tasting people's food with his fingers. Also in Manchester's city centre a similar, better, meal for 2 was approximately £35, £10 cheaper than your average restaurant.
I have adjusted my review accordingly and would strongly suggest that you review your hygiene standards and stop blaming customers for your business's problems.
